In order to determine eligibility for a face to face interview, applicants are expected to complete the Personal History Statement (PHS), which is required by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an oral review board conducted by members of the department. This is a question and answer as well as scenario based interview.
A computer voice stress analysis will be conducted by the department's CVSA examiner. The CVSA consists of software, integrated to a laptop computer, which analyzes the responses from an applicant for truth verification.
A thorough background investigation will be completed on each selected applicant to include interviewing friends, past and present employers and coworkers, family members and neighbors. This will also include a review of the answers you provided on your PHS, to include your criminal history, credit and financial history, employment history, and a review of your social media accounts.
After successfully completing the oral board and background investigation, qualified applicants will then have the opportunity to meet with Chief Carli for a face to face interview.
Applicants will participate in a psychological examination administered by a licensed psychologist.
As required by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, applicants will complete a medical screening. This exam will also include a screening for illegal and prescription drugs.
Candidates who have successfully completed every step of the process may be offered a position with the Vacaville Police Department.
